FACT: Over 12,000 rockets have been launched from Gaza into Israel, killing innocent Israelis.

Over 12,000 rockets have been fired since 2001, endangering the lives of innocent civilians and traumatizing many more.  (RocketsIntoRoses.com)

For the past 8 years, over 10,000 rockets have been launched towards Sderot and the western Negev. (Sderot Media Center)

The IDF cannot effectively respond to rocket launchers due to the fact that 97% rockets are fired from civilian populated areas in Gaza, often nearby schools, hospitals and mosques.  (Sderot Media Center)

Prior to 2006, the number of Palestinian rocket attacks rarely reached 50 per month. FACT: Gaza is controlled by Hamas, a radical Muslim group that threatens to destroy Israel and has claimed responsibility for attacks that have killed innocent Israelis.

Hamas is guilty of repeated and deliberate attacks on civilian populations, which, by definition, constitute war crimes. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

These deliberate attacks caused deaths, injuries, and extensive property damage. They forced businesses to close and terrorized tens of thousands of residents into abandoning their homes. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

Supported by Iran and Syria, Hamas used the Gaza Strip as its launching pad to conduct ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel. Hamas amassed an extensive armed force of more than 20,000 armed operatives in Gaza. They constantly worked to increase the quality and range of their weapons and by late 2008, its rocket fire was capable of reaching some of Israel‘s largest cities and strategic infrastructure. FACT: The government of Gaza oppresses its people, not Israel.

In June 2007, Hamas violently took over the Gaza Strip, overthrowing the legitimate Palestinian Authority and neutralizing the Authority's security forces. In its place, Hamas set up a radical Muslim entity. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

FACT: There has not been an Israeli presence in Gaza since 2005, giving no basis to the false claim of "occupation."

FACT: The biggest supplier of aid to Gaza is Israel.

Both before and during the Gaza Operation, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) went to great lengths to ensure that humanitarian aid reached the Palestinian population, including by facilitating the delivery of 1,511 trucks carrying 37,162 tons. The IDF took extensive precautions to avoid or limit harm to civilians in Gaza, while pursuing its objectives of stopping Hamas’s incessant rocket and mortar fire on Israeli civilians and property. Hamas, on the other hand, committed clear grave violations of international law and human rights, both before and during the Gaza Operation. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

In 2009: 738,576 tons (30,576 trucks) of humanitarian commodities were transferred to the Gaza Strip. 22,849 Palestinians exited the Strip, among them 10,544 patients and their companions, exiting for medical treatment in Israel. 21,200 international organization staff members entered the Gaza Strip. 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine entered the Strip, in 572 trucks, based on requests made by the PA and the international community.  (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

Israel maintains a corridor for the transfer of medical patients out of Gaza, and about 200 medical staff members go through the crossings every month.  (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
